Chennai: The makers of director Pooja Kolluru’s ‘Mahakali’ on Thursday released the first look of lead actress Bhumi Shetty as Maha in the much-awaited film, much to the delight of fans and film lovers.
For those unaware, the film is a part of director Prashant Verma’s Prashant Verma Cinematic Universe (PVCU).
Sharing the first look of Bhumi Shetty’s character in the film, director Prashant Verma, who is the showrunner of the film, wrote, “From the cosmic womb of creation awakens the universe’s most ferocious superhero! Introducing #BhumiShetty as Maha. #Mahakali @RKDStudios #RKDuggal @PoojaKolluru #AkshayKhanna #RivaJarmeshDuggal @ThePVCU.”

Sources say that the unit has already completed more than 50% of the shooting of the film. As of now, the unit is currently shooting on a lavish set specially built in Hyderabad. While the film industry is generally hesitant to invest in a film with a non-star cast, the producers have reportedly gone ahead with a massive production budget led by a newcomer. It was also widely reported that several A-list actresses had expressed interest in portraying the superhero, but the producers remained firm on their vision of casting a fresh face – a dark-complexioned girl who embodies the authenticity and essence of the story.
The first look of ‘Mahakali’ instantly catches attention with its divine intensity and captivating beauty. Bhumi Shetty, who plays the lead character, is drenched in colors of fiery red and deep gold, showcasing a raw symbolic power that reflects the essence of the goddess herself. Adorned with traditional jewelery and sacred icons, her piercing gaze reveals both anger and grace, symbolizing destruction and rebirth, the eternal duality of Mahakali.
The film has generated huge interest among fans and film lovers. It can be recalled that the makers had released the first look of actor Akshay Khanna as Shukracharya in the film exactly a month ago.
Prashant Verma had then introduced Akshay Khanna’s character, saying, “In the shadow of the gods, the brightest flame of rebellion flares up. Akshay Khanna plays the role of Shukracharya in this large-scale film. Interestingly, this is the first time that Akshaye Khanna will be playing the role of a revered guru on screen.
