Malayalam actor Mohanlal will be awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2023

Malayalam actor Mohanlal will be awarded the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2023.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting announced on Saturday that actor Mohanlal would be awarded the country’s highest cinema honor, the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2023. This award will be presented at 71Scheduled tribe National Film Awards ceremony on 23 September.

Congratulating the actor through a post on X, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said: “Mr. Mohanlal Yes A symbol of excellence and versatility. With a rich body of work extending for decades, he stands as a major light of Malayalam cinema, theater and is deeply emotional about the culture of Kerala. He has also given remarkable performances in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Hindi films. His cinematic and dramatic talent in mediums is really inspiring … Their achievements may continue to inspire generations to come. ,

I & B minister Ashwini Vaishnav said: “Congratulations to Llettan @mohanlal YesFrom Edipoli to the beautiful land of Kerala to the audience around the world, their work celebrated our culture and increased our aspirations. His legacy will continue to inspire India’s creative spirit. ,

Through another post, the Ministry said: “On the recommendation of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award Selection Committee, the Government of India is pleased to announce that Mr. Mohanlal will be honored with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2023. The remarkable cinematic travel of Mohanlal inspires generations!”

“The great actor, director and producer are being honored for his prestigious contribution to Indian cinema. His unmatched talent, versatility and tireless hard work has set a gold standard in Indian film history. The award will be presented in 71.Scheduled tribe The National Film Awards ceremony on 23 September 2025, ”said this.

The ministry said, “Outside of cinema, he was commissioned as an honorary lieutenant colonel in the Indian Territorial Army in 2009 … Today, Mohanlal is one of India’s most respected cultural icons, praising his versatility, humility and contribution to world cinema.”

This year Malayalam superstar turned 65 years old. During his career for more than four decades, he has acted in around 400 films and received five National Awards and many Kerala State Awards. He was awarded the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan in 2001 by the Central Government in 2019.
