Malayalam icon Prem Nazir’s son, veteran actor Shanwas, dies at the age of 71

New Delhi: Veteran Malayalam actor Shanwas, son of legend Prem Nazir, died at the age of 71 years. According to reports by Manorama Online, he was suffering from kidney and heart -related diseases and was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram.

The actor breathed his last on Monday. His death has left the film industry and his fans in deep mourning. The actor’s funeral will take place on Tuesday (August 5) in the Palayam Muslim Jamaat cemetery.

Malayalam actor Shanwas dies in 71

Shanwas had been struggling with kidney and heart related diseases for many years. According to Manorama Online, the experienced actor died on Monday around 11:30 pm after a long health issues. A resident of Corden Trinity in Wazuthakoud, he was admitted to a hospital when his condition deteriorated. Shanwas overtakes a permanent heritage in Malayalam cinema. He also shared screen space with his father Prem Nazir in seven films.

 

Shanwas family, education and first film

Born for the legendary film icon Prem Nazir and Habiba Bevi in Thiruvananthapuram, Shanwas pursued his early education at Chirayinakiju English Medium School, Montfort School and Jerkoud. He obtained a master’s degree in English literature from New College, Chennai. Shanwas made her acting debut in the 1981 film Prema Gethangal, directed by Balchandra Menon.

Remarkable work

Shanwas appeared in more than 50 films and also acted in several television serials. Mazanilavu, Neelagiri, Manithli, Ganam, Garbashreman, Zaryood Garbhinical and Azi were among his notable films. Talking about his TV work, he appeared on the show including Shankahumugam, Veluthu Katrina, Kadamtattu Kathanar and Satyameva Jayate.

Shanwas last movie

After a long gap from acting, Shanwas began a comeback on a big screen with the 2011 film China Town. His last appearance was in the film Jan Gana Mana (2022), which was in the film Jana Gana Mana (2022).

Shanwas is left from his wife Ayesha Abdul Aziz, sons Ajit Khan and Sharabi Khan and daughter -in -law Hana. His death has left a deep zero in the hearts of his fans and in the Malayalam film industry.
