‘Malegaon Files’: In 2008, the film Malegaon Blast case announced, which should be directed by Rajiv S. Ruia

Mumbai: A film based on the 2008 Malegaon bomb blast case has been announced and has been titled ‘Malegaon Files’.

Rajiv S. Ruia, director of ‘My Friend Ganesh’ fame, will direct the film, which is currently in the pre-production stage. The film’s actors and crew have not yet been revealed by the producers.

The film will be produced by Sahil Seth under the banner of CINEDUST 18 Films Private. Limited

According to a press note shared by the manufacturers, the film aims to present an entertaining and sensitive illustration of the 2008 Malegaon bomb blasts, which shook the nation and led a long, complex legal battle.

“This is not just a story about an explosion – it is about that human stories, political shadows, discovery of truth, and emotional and legal upheaval faced by the accused and the families of the victims.

Ruia told ANI that the film is currently in the pre-production phase and will be shot in real places.

“Our writer is in the team conversation. It is a very sensitive subject. There is a need to bring out every detail behind it. Research is going on … 99 percent we will shoot in real places. We will soon recur,” he said.

According to the press note, the manufacturers stated that the script is being developed with the input of the investigative report, court documents and real admirers to ensure that the story is ground and respectable.

The film has been slated to go on the floor by the end of 2025, in which more information about actors and shooting schedules is expected to be revealed soon.

The Malegaon blast tragedy occurred on September 29, 2008 with six people killed and 95 others injured when an explosive equipment collided with a motorcycle, which exploded near a mosque at Bhiku Chowk in Malegaon city.

Originally, 11 people were accused in the case; However, the court eventually made allegations against 7, including former MP Sadhi Pragya.

The Mumbai NIA court acquitted all seven accused of involvement in the 2008 blasts in Malegaon on 31 July, said the court said that the prosecution failed to establish the case beyond a proper suspicion.

The 2008 Malegaon blast case was transferred from the Anti-Maharashtra Anti-Maharashtra anti-terrorism squad (ATS) to the NIA in 2011.

After 17 years of waiting and examination of hundreds of witnesses, the NIA Special Court acquitted all the seven people accused under the illegal activities (prevention) Act, Arms Act and all other charges.
