The Mnet Asian Music Awards kicked off its first night of the gala event, welcoming the night’s headlining artists to the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California. This year, the MAMA Awards have been expanded to a three-day event, with the venue shifted to the Kyocera Dome in Osaka, Japan on November 22 and 23. Espa, Blackpink lead Jennie Mama Award nominations
This year, SM Entertainment’s girl group Espa leads the nominations at the awards ceremony with an impressive eight awards. They have won several placings in major categories, including Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Female Group, Best Choreography and Album of the Year.

On the other hand, BLACKPINK’s Kim Jennie, who launched her solo career earlier this year after splitting from YG Entertainment and establishing her own agency, OA, has earned seven nominations. He won recognition in prestigious categories such as Artist of the Year and Song of the Year.
Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon, SEVENTEEN, (G)I-DLE, IVE, Le Seseraphim, and Reese have earned multiple nominations in major award categories this year. Additionally, solo artists such as BB, Hwasa, Jennie, Sunmi, Taeyeon, Jungkook, Jimin, Taemin, Ki and others have received major nominations as solo artists in various categories.
MAMA Awards Day 1 highlights
On Nov. 21, the MAMAs red carpet was star-studded. Celebrities like Eric Nam, Young Poussey, Catseye, Lee Isaac Chung and Park Bo Gum graced the event, turning heads with their stunning outfits.

The ceremony began in Los Angeles with a press conference featuring JY Park and rising K-pop group, RIIZE. According to Billboard, Park offered a glimpse of her upcoming collaboration with Anderson .Paak, and hinted “at an improvised, live performance with her renowned drummer”. Meanwhile, RIIZE teased a Michael Jackson-inspired stage, with members Shotaro and Wonbin promising an “eclipse”-themed dance sequence.
A special collaboration between TXT’s Beomgyu and Hueningkai, Enhypen’s J, and Zerobasseon’s Kim Taere and Han Yujin is also on the cards for the Japan lineup. Additionally, Lee Youngji and PLAVE are set to deliver an iconic performance together.
