On the second death anniversary of Sidhu Moosewala aka Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, his last film Yes I Am Student (2021) co-star, actor Mandy Takhar remembered him and recalled their shooting days. “We all used to have lunch together on the set. His mother also used to be there, she used to decorate the table like langar. Even during the shoot, there was an innocence and nervousness as he was new to acting. It was interesting and lovely to see the beginning of the acting career of a well-known artist,” she shared, and added that their fans thought they were romantically linked with each other. “I had a good relationship with him, we both really loved each other. In fact, after a few interviews, people thought we were dating but it was not true. Many fans got irritated when I got married as they thought I cheated on Sidhu.”
The 37-year-old actor shared an interesting anecdote about the track Jaan from his film, saying, “We were shooting a song called Jaan in the film. I had to go back but I accidentally slipped, so he pulled me towards him so that I don’t fall. It was a very sweet and honest moment which we have put in the song as well. No one really knew that I had actually slipped. I am glad that I could have this sweet experience with him in his last film.”

The actor always remembers him with a smile as she shares that he was the most innocent soul. “His smile was the most childlike. He was a director’s actor and always tried to give his best in every scene. That childishness of his is something I will always remember. His songs were a little aggressive, but nothing like that comes to mind with his image, he was very innocent and had many dreams yet to be fulfilled,” Takhar said remembering the singer, who gave hit tracks like 295, The Last Ride and Badfella. “He will always be a legend. Even today when I am at a party, wedding or gym, I keep saying, ‘Sidhu ka gana lagao’! His music will remain evergreen for generations to come as well. I am glad that he fulfilled so many dreams in such a short span of five years and became a living legend, something that people are not able to do in many years.”
She adds that after his death on May 28, 2022, she went to meet his parents Charan Kaur and Balkaur Singh. “I went to meet his parents on Akhand Paath and even after that I met them many times. Losing their son and all the media attention that followed was quite upsetting for them. It is really beautiful to know and see them with a new baby in their life. No one can replace Sidhu, but it can definitely heal some wounds. It is inspiring that they started their life again and did not give up,” the actor concluded.
