Manoj Bajpayee combines the debate of stray dog’s decision with a balanced tech, urges sympathy for both people and animals

Mumbai: On the recent decision of the Supreme Court, stray dogs have created a big debate with many Bollywood celebrities in the country, including Adah Sharma, Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor and Raveena Tandon, which are speaking openly against the decision.

Now, Manoj Bajpayee has also joined it, but more neutrally on the matter.

Taking his Instagram stories on Monday, the ‘Gangs of Vasipur’ wrote that “fear” should not be the reason for the dog’s fate. Bajpai said that while “these animals did not choose on the streets and worth mercy,” people “are also worth feeling safe,” saying that the only way forward should be through “sympathy”.

Bajpai wrote on Instagram, “These animals did not choose the streets and were worth compassion.


In the August 11 order, the court directed the authorities in Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Faridabad to ensure that the area was free from stray dogs. It also decided that the occupied animals should not be released back to the streets.

It was soon against animal lovers and rights groups in many parts of India, including Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal, urged the court to reconsider their order.

After the backlash, a bench of three judges of Justice Vikram Nath, Sandeep Mehta and NV Anjaria reserved their order on the petitions demanding on the instructions. The bench said that it would pass an interim order after hearing logic from all sides.

Citing the data of the World Health Organization, the Solicitor General said that 37 lakh dog bites were reported in 2024, with the death of 305 rabies, among children under 15 years of age. He said, “There is no need to kill dogs … they have to be separated. Parents cannot send children out to play. No animal hates,” he said.
