Mumbai: Veteran actor Raj Babarbar condoled Manoj Kumar’s death. He called upon India’s highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna to tell the late actor.
Raj Babar spoke with IANS in Pawan Hans, when Manoj Kumar was given the state farewell. He told IANS, “The film industry has lost a gem today. Manoj Kumar worked towards making India’s dignity solid, paid respect for India’s freedom fighters through his work in cinema. A director, writer and actor, who spoke about patriotism. He was very great, and made a place for himself in the hearts of people through love.
He further mentioned, “I remember, I was starting work on ‘Shaheed Udham Singh’, and went to seek his blessings. I met him in Delhi, and told him that I am making this film, and I will need you. Manoj Kumar’s funerals were held in Vile Parle area of Mumbai. His mortal remains were brought to his residence from Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute at Goswami Towers on Saturday at 10:00 am, and the funeral was held at Pawan Hans Creator.
The scene of his residence showed family members and employees arranging flowering decorations, while an ambulance adorned three-colored flowers, symbolizes the national flag, carried forward their mortal remains. The actor’s friends and family attended their funeral as they were given a kingdom funeral.
He was given the Guard of Honor during his funeral. Members of the film fraternity like Amitabh Bachchan, Salim Khan, his sons Abhishek Bachchan and Arbaaz Khan attended the funeral. Other members of the fraternity included Prem Chopra, Raza Murad, Vindu Dara Singh, Anu Malik and Dheeraj Kumar.
