Legendary actors Manoj Kumar along with actors Dharmendra and Hema Malini participate in the wedding of Isha Deol and Bharat Takhtani in Mumbai. Manoj Kumar, known for patriotic films like ‘Purba and Paschim’, died on April 4, 2025 in a hospital in Mumbai early Friday.
The leading Indian personality, in which actors Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgan, Manoj Bajpayee and filmmaker Karan Johar paid tribute to cinema icon Manoj Kumar on Friday, who celebrate their legacy to highlight social issues and patriotism through their films.

Industry veterans, whose films ruled the box office in the late 1960s and 1970s, were ill for some time and died of issues related to age around 3.30 am at Kokilaben Ambani Hospital.

In a statement, Aamir expressed Kumar’s death, saying that experienced actor’s films were a great source of learning for him.
He said, “Manoj Kumar was not just an actor, and the film-producer was an institution. I have learned a lot to watch his films. His films were often based on important social subjects that really brought him closer to the common man. My heartfelt condolences to his family,” he said.
Akshay saw Kumar as one of the biggest wealth of the film fraternity.
“I learn from them that there is no feeling like love and pride for our country. And if we actor will not lead to showing this feeling, then who will be? A good person, and one of the biggest wealth in our community. RIP Manoj Sir. Om Shanti,” He posted on X.
Devgan said that Kumar played an important role in his family’s visit to cinema. He remembered that the cinema icon gave his first break as an action director with “Roti Capada Aur Maken” to the late Father Veeru Devgan of Devgan.
“From there, his cooperation continued in all ways for ‘Kranti’, creating such moments that are now part of the golden history of Indian cinema. Manoj ji’s films – ‘Cons’, ‘Purba and Paschim’, ‘Shor’, ‘Kranti’, they were not just movies … they were national feelings. He said.
“As Indian cinema bid farewell to his Bharat Kumar – a storyteller, a patriot, and a legend. I want to say thanks to shaping my father’s visit and to inspire countless storytellers like me,” he said.
Bajpai said that Kumar was “pillar of Hindi cinema”.
He said, “His art celebrated the spirit of India.
Johar said that the country has lost a “cinema legend” and remembered the actor’s famous film “Kranti” as a child.

“This took me back to a screening of ‘Kranti’, which I saw as a child … sitting on the floor with other children and a pack screening room of filmmakers and actors and industry veterans … It was a rough cut of the film … A 4 -hour long version … Manojji was sharing his film on the initial stage of this type.”
“Rip Manoj Kumar Sir,” Sonu Sood wrote.
Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar said that he is saddened by Kumar’s death.
“I had the privilege of interacting with him on many occasions, and he was actually an icon of Indian cinema. His story and song depictions in his films were inspired by national pride and would echo for generations. My deep sentiment for his family members and fans. #Omshanti,”
Filmmakers Zoya Akhtar, Vivek Agnihotri, Hansal Mehta and Kunal Kohli also mourned Kumar’s death.
