Mardaani 3 Movie Review: Rani Mukherjee’s New Mission, Shivani Rai Takes On ‘Amma”s Empire Of Horrors

When Rani Mukherjee’s name appears on the screen as the lead actress, a strange confidence is created in the minds of the audience. Rani has made this impression through her choice of roles over the past 30 years. With ‘Mardani’ in 2014, she redefined the image of a female police officer, which was reinforced with Part 2 in 2019. Now after a long wait of seven years, Mardaani 3 has released.

Story: The cries of the innocent and the dark empire of ‘Amma’

The film opens with a high-profile kidnapping. A VIP man’s daughter along with his housekeeper’s daughter has also been kidnapped. This is where Shivani Shivaji Roy (Rani Mukherjee) makes a splashy entry. At first, Shivani is seen rescuing women being taken for drug smuggling, but soon she is given the responsibility of this ‘high-profile’ case.

Deep mystery and bitter reality

Shivani thinks she is close to the culprit, but then she realizes that the web of crime is much deeper than she expected. The film raises sensitive issues of abuse of power, betrayal and society that are often suppressed. The real essence of the film is to raise the voice of those who have been silent for years.

Masculinity 3: Good things

Rani Mukerji’s Mardaani 3 is amazing from the very first scene. Not a single moment is boring. What begins as a clean-cut kidnapping case later touches on issues that have been quietly plaguing the country for years. The theme of the film changes rapidly, with the makers trying to include several crime themes in the 2 hours and 9 minutes.
The film blends sensitivity and serious issues such as the beggar mafia, human experimentation and brutality against women. Each of these themes intersects with each other in many places, which has been handled with great care. In fact, it would be difficult to find a boring moment in the film.
Mardani 3 also dared to show the flaws of the system, and how honest officers deal with ‘orders’ and go beyond their uniform and methods to face the truth and ‘deal’. Apart from this, the makers have added many such twists and turns, which you would not have thought of, which were enough to make you restless on your seat.

Mardaani 3: Where the film falters

For a long time, the role of National Award-winning actress Janaki Badiwala in Mardaani 3 seems incomplete and ineffective. Although her character was developed for a specific reason, we still feel that her talent was not properly utilized in the film.
The second half of the film dragged at times and felt long. This time the focus was on Shivani Shivaji Roy’s professional life and not his personal life. However, her reel husband Jeesu Sengupta appeared in a cameo. We don’t mind a few light-hearted, stress-free moments here and there.

Masculinity 3: Performance

Rani Mukherjee is the life of Mardani 3. She carries the film on her shoulders and makes the audience realize who she is. Shivani Shivaji Rai hits, punches and kicks like it’s child’s play. This time, he is fully prepared for the scale of the crimes and the masterminds behind them. And Rani knows what she’s doing. She frames the film with such passion, giving it her all and reminding you why the character is where she is. Every time she hits the screen, she brings something new to her fans – cementing her place as one of the most bankable actors in the film industry.
Mallika Prasad who played the role of cruel Amma also deserves special praise. Rani Mukherjee recently said that a film is never the work of one person – it’s teamwork – and Mallika’s performance as the villain proves it. His portrayal as the creepy, deeply disturbing Chief sends shivers down your spine. She is ruthless and truly terrifying, the kind of woman mothers warn their children about. And when a villain makes you feel this uncomfortable, you know the job’s done right.
Prajesh Kashyap’s performance as Ramanujan is very impressive. You’ll have to watch the movie (spoiler-free) to know more about him.

Mardani 3: Direction and Music

The director of the film, Abhiraj Meenawala, has done a wonderful job. He understands the tone and emotional rhythm of the story, making Rani appear brave when the time calls for it and poised when the time calls for it. There is clear control in the way scenes unfold, so the drama is never too much.
The pacing remains tight, and the tension is given room to breathe rather than forced. The action scenes are impressive without being pretentious, while the quieter moments feel just as weighty.
Music and sound design play an important role here. Nothing seems over the top or unnecessary. The background score supports the story without being overbearing, keeping everything in balance and in sync with the mood of the film.

Masculinity 3: Must see?

The character Shivani Shivaji Roy played by Rani Mukerji is a hit to say the least. The film has all the essential elements of a thrilling crime thriller, keeping you engaged without looking at your phone or getting distracted. If you are wondering whether Mardaani 3 is worth watching in theaters or not, then from us it is a definite yes. Not just for Rani, but also because it’s a film that’s really well made.
Mardani 3 3.5 out of 5 stars.
