Maria could not contact her sister
Mariah’s close friend David Baker claimed to the US Sun that the singer did not try to contact her sister during their separation. She avoided checking on Alison, even when Alison was put into hospice care a few weeks ago. “A phone call or, even better, a video call would have meant a lot to Alison. But it never happened,” Baker said. Baker claimed that the Don’t Forget About Us singer only found out about her sister’s death a month before she passed away.
According to Mariah’s friend, as reported by Page Six, the older sister was upset that the singer decided to “cut off contact with her” and go no contact. They added, “This ruthless rejection added to Alison’s pain. She often talked about it. She wondered if Mariah or any of her relatives would come to her funeral. I am told that a memorial service is planned in the future, but nothing right now.”

Maria’s estrangement from her siblings
Mariah became estranged from her sister and brother Morgan Carey after a controversy erupted when she released her memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey. The memoir’s contents and claims prompted her siblings to sue her for defamation and “intentional infliction of emotional distress.”
Court documents in the case revealed that Ellison struggled with alcohol addiction and other related health problems. She suffered a brain injury as well as vision and short-term memory loss after a home invasion incident in 2015. She also had spinal cord and digestive disorders.
