Marvel star Evangeline Lilly has announced that she has retired from acting. In a post on Instagram on Monday, June 3, the 44-year-old Lost alum said she is “very happy and content” and “ready to live happily ever after.” [her] Vision.”
Lily posted her 20-year-old video and wrote, “Praise God, I feel so grateful for my blessings. Stepping away from what seems to be the obvious choice (money and fame) can sometimes feel scary, but stepping into your faith replaces fear with fulfillment.”
She added, “I may come back to Hollywood one day, but for now, this is my place. The new season is here, and I’m ready…and I’m happy.”
The throwback video shows Lily, who is much younger, revealing her dreams for the future and says that she wants to one day be a retired actress who has a family and two kids. She also revealed her desire to become a writer and spend her time doing humanitarian work.
Evangeline Lilly’s Career
Lilly is best known for her role as Kate Austen in the Lost series. She shares a daughter and a son with her longtime partner Norman Kali. Lilly also starred as Hope van Dyne in Marvel’s Ant-Man, and reprised her role in 2018’s Ant-Man and the Wasp and 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. Most recently, she was seen in 2023’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. She also notably appeared in Smallville, Real Steel, as well as two films in the Hobbit franchise.
Lilly revealed in 2018 that she had a “bad experience” while working on Lost that led her to reject onscreen nudity for the rest of her life. “In Season 3, I had a bad experience on set in which I was forced to do a scene partially nude, and I felt I had no choice in the matter,” she said at the time. “And I was embarrassed and I was shaking and when I finished it, I was bursting into tears and I had to do a very formidable, very strong scene after that.”
