Masti 4X review: Original trio reunites in adult comedy sequel, early reactions praise performances but mixed feelings on story

Masti 4X Review: The much-awaited fourth installment of the Masti franchise has finally arrived in theatres. The series, which started in 2004 with Masti starring Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi and Aftab Shivdasani, has enjoyed a long-time fan base and spawned two successful follow-ups, Grand Masti and Great Grand Masti. Now, nine years later, the original trio has reunited for Masti 4, raising a lot of expectations among fans.

About Masti 4

In the new chapter, Riteish, Vivek and Aftab reprise their roles as Amar Saxena, Meet Mehta and Prem Chawla. The film also stars Elnaaz Norouzi, Nargis Fakhri, Arshad Warsi and Natalia Janoszek. Staying true to the formula of the franchise, the story once again follows three men dissatisfied with their married lives who seek adventure outside their relationships.

But as soon as the film hit the shelves, early reviews circulating on social media were divided.

Masti 4 Netizens Review

A Twitter user gave the film a 3.5 star rating, praising the film’s fast-paced opening and Milap Zaveri’s assured direction. The reviewer highlighted the film’s improved structure compared to previous installments and wrote that the central story of three husbands chasing “love visas” provides ample room for comical mishaps. Of the three, Riteish Deshmukh’s performance was considered the strongest, while Vivek Oberoi and Aftab Shivdasani were described as competent. The review concluded that Masti 4 is “an efficient, thoroughly entertaining film that delivers on its promise without excess.”

Another reviewer offered a more enthusiastic 4-star rating, calling the film “unexpected, ingenious and uproarious”. Praising the chemistry of the lead trio and the story of the film, the user said that the entry of Tusshar Kapoor and Arshad Warsi added to the humor. The performances of the supporting cast including Elnaaz Norouzi, Shreya Sharma and Roohi Singh were also noted for adding glamor and energy.

A third online response called Masti 4 “one of the best entertaining movies”, rating it 4/5. Another reviewer awarded the film 3.5 stars, calling it a “guaranteed entertainer” for fans of the adult-comedy genre. He praised Milap Zaveri’s understanding of audience sensibilities and cited the film’s “cheerful punches”, catchy music and ensemble cast as major strengths – though he jokingly advised audiences not to watch the film with families.

Despite such praise, the film’s commercial prospects may face initial challenges. Advance bookings for both Masti 4 and its rival 120 Bahadur started in huge numbers yesterday.
