Iconic ‘Friends’ star Matthew Perry died last year at the age of 54 from “acute effects of the drug ketamine”, his post-mortem report said.
The autopsy report showed that Perry was taking ketamine therapy for depression. However, it indicated that the ketamine present in his body at the time of his death could not have come from his prescribed treatment because the drug had a short half-life. This led investigators to suspect that Perry had received the fatal dose from another source.
The late actor had serious alcohol and drug problems, but he had been sober for 19 months before he died by drowning. Perry spoke openly about his substance abuse disorder, which he struggled with on television and even on the show. He talked about his serious addiction to alcohol and opioids, especially after taking Vicodin, which he was prescribed after a jet skiing accident in 1997.
Following Perry’s untimely death, police launched an investigation into another celebrity who had accompanied him to rehab. The LAPD, along with the US Drug Enforcement Administration and the US Postal Inspection Service, launched a criminal investigation in May. The investigation was in connection with Perry’s death on October 28, 2023, which occurred at his L.A. home, where he was found nude and unconscious in a hot tub.

The unnamed celebrity ‘surrendered everything and cooperated fully’
“They’re basically looking for Matthew’s killer,” an insider told In Touch. The source added that a woman, a celebrity in her own right, who met Perry in rehab was brought in for questioning. “She’s a celebrity in her own right, and they met in rehab. They formed an unlikely friendship,” the source added.
And police arrived at the unnamed celebrity’s door smelling of suspicion. When law enforcement officers arrived at her sober living home with a search warrant, the unnamed celebrity was exercising. Upon returning, she was reportedly “in complete shock and had no idea what the search warrant was about.” (In Touch has decided not to reveal the celebrity’s identity due to the ongoing investigation.)
“She is adamant she had nothing to do with it [Perry’s death]” the insider told In Touch.
“She’s been quiet about this situation. But investigators must know something when they get a warrant and come this way.”

The unnamed celebrity woman cooperated fully with the police and was neither handcuffed nor arrested. The insider said, “She told everything and cooperated completely.”
The exact nature of the police search remains unclear, but it is connected to the investigation into how Perry obtained the drugs that led to his death.
