The new documentary “TMZ Investigates Matthew Perry and the Secret Celebrity Drug Ring” is set to air soon. Here’s what viewers can expect from it.
Friend Actor Matthew Perry filled the lives of countless people with laughter and joy thanks to his iconic persona as the fictional Chandler Bing. However, his death last October raised a dark cloud of wishful thinking and what-ifs. A post-mortem examination eventually revealed that his death was linked to high concentrations of a drug called ketamine in his blood.
In August 2024, five co-conspirators, including two doctors, were charged in connection with the actor’s fatal overdose. The infamous group included North Hollywood’s “Ketamine Queen” Jasveen Sangha, Dr. Salvador Plasencia, Dr. Mark Chavez, Eric Fleming, and Perry’s longtime assistant Kenneth Iwamasa. The sinister trap set by the quintet ultimately cost the Hollywood star his life. Perry had spoken publicly about his history of substance abuse and detailed his relationship with addiction in the memoir, “Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing.”
But because of the involvement of doctors in an elaborate scheme to exploit actors, Perry’s case shed further light on the secret drug ring that plagued Hollywood and ruined so many lives.

TMZ’s Matthew Perry documentary airs tomorrow
The new documentary “TMZ Investigates Matthew Perry and the Secret Celebrity Drug Ring” releasing tomorrow will once again focus on the shady business hidden in the open. Celebrities like Kelly Osbourne will pull out all the stops and openly reveal the dirty tricks used by doctors who push well-known drug addicts into even darker territory in an attempt to expand their contacts in the industry and reap unethical profits.
TMZ reports that Jackass star Brandon Novak will also candidly admit “how he traded money for drugs in doctors’ offices.” In addition, media personality and addiction medicine expert Dr. Drew will join the conversation to expose the “totally anti-social” behavior of the doctors involved in this racket. Renowned experts will reveal the dirty secrets hidden by a network of MDs who no longer pledge loyalty to their ethical profession.

The documentary will fully expose the enablers and rehab centers involved with the secret drug ring. The new TMZ Matthew Perry documentary will air Monday, September 16 at 9 p.m. ET on FOX. Its streaming premiere is scheduled for Tuesday on Hulu.
