After a star-studded premiere and a packed house at the Grand Theater at NMACC, Mumbai, the mega musical Rajadhiraj: Love Life LeelaIt will open on Friday night at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Auditorium in the capital. The tech-driven mythology created by 180 artists is a blend of rich storytelling, thumping songs and spectacular visuals, put together by lyricist and screenwriter Prasoon Joshi, who stepped into theater with his first musical, Sachin-Jigar. who composed a powerful soundtrack, Neeta. Lulla, who designed 1,800 custom-made costumes and, director Shruti Sharma, among others.
Joshi highlights lesser-known stories that trace the divine saga of Krishna’s journey to Mathura, Vrindavan, Gokul, Mewar and Devbhoomi Dwarka. The captivating music connects Krishna as Shrinath and Dwarkadhish and creates a unique and intense experience for the audience.
“I always look for and venture into complex, less explored subjects. whether it is a Taare Zameen Par on learning difficulties or run milkha run, A sports biopic,” says Joshi. “Different creative formats – poetry, advertising, songs, film scripts, music and theater – all fascinate me; I let my heart and pen lead the way.”

He believes that the subject chooses him and absorbs him into himself. “Writing a two-hour screenplay, dialogue and 20 original songs was no easy task, but an immense pleasure.”
Sachin-Jigar elevated the songs by combining Western symphonic elements of Budapest with Indian classical, Haveli Sangeet, Rajasthani and Gujarati folk and Hindustani semi-classical music.
Joshi says, the music is known to stay true to the theme, highlighting the philosophical depth of the characters and allowing the emotions to underpin it. “Krishna’s story is about love and quest. Love of creation, love of the obvious and the unexplained, the personal and the universal; Expressions of love are found in any form.

Conceived by Dhanraj Nathwani, the musical has been appreciated for redefining Indian theater and emerging as a cultural phenomenon. “Bringing this unique and immersive experience to Delhi holds special significance as we are closer to the revered Brijbhoomi, the birthplace of Krishna, and everyone feels more connected,” says Nathwani.
