‘Memory Card’ controversy rocks Malayalam actors body Amma before the election

With barely a week for the election for its governing committee, the issue of ‘Memory Card’ continues the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) with its female members, who are now resorting to petitions and counter petitions.

The allegation is that a meeting of women members of AMMA held in 2018 in view of the formation of the HEMA committee by the Kerala government was videograph and preserved as a memory card. The controversy has now erupted amid the fears of its leaks during the whereabouts of the said memory card, as the video footage allegedly had open revelations about the bad experiences faced by some members. A part of actors, including Usha Hasina and Ponamma Babu, has corn their colleague Kukku Parameswaran on the matter.

Angered by the allegations, Ms. Parmeswaran, who is contesting for the post of General Secretary in the upcoming election, has now filed a petition with the state police chief who is allegedly engaged in defamation campaign against him including social media.

“I am being accused of something that I have nothing to do with or on which I am not doing the party. Also, why should we raise a case after all these years?” He told Hindu,

However, he refused to reveal the names mentioned in his petition. “I have named all those who have taken my name in this matter,” all what he will say.

Ms. Hasina competed with a petition on a petition to the state police chief, Amma, Chief Minister, Kerala State Women’s Commission and Kerala State Human Rights Commission.

Actor Jagdish, who filed his hat in the ring by filing nominations for the presidency, withdrew it after alleged objections at the last minute. Baburaj was forced to contest from the post of General Secretary after demanding his return, citing allegations against him in view of the report of the HEMA committee in public after a part of the AMMA members.

Shweta Menon, who is contesting for the post of President, has allegedly slapped himself with a case for acting in films with obscene and pornographic content for financial gains, although it was later stalled by the Kerala High Court. The case against Ms. Menon also caused modeling among members.
