‘Metro in Dino’ Box Office Collection Day 3: Anurag Basu’s ‘Metro in Dino’ is closed for a solid start at the box office. The romantic musical drama, which brings together a Shakti-Pack artists including Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Neena Gupta, Anupam Kher, Ali Fazal, Sara Ali Khan and Fatima Sana Sheikh, has collected one in a commendable of 16.75 crore for her inauguration.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film earned of 3.5 crores on its first day (Friday), followed by a healthy jump of ₹ 6 crore on Saturday. The upward trend continued on Sunday, which earned the film of 7.25 crores, which increased to ₹ 16.75 crore for three days.

The film’s occupancy rate on Sunday was 39.75% in total, with the highest footfalls recorded during the afternoon and evening shows, 46.62% and 57.14% respectively. The morning show watched 15.98% occupancy, while the night show recorded 39.27%.
‘Jeevan … a metro’ sequel
Directed by Anurag Basu and characteristic of music by Pritam, ‘Metro in Dino’ is a spiritual successor for the 2007 film ‘Life … In a Metro’, which explored urban loneliness and love through interwaoven stories. While the original was an important and commercial success, the new installment is doing even better in box office figures. Interestingly, Konkona Sen Sharma is the only prominent cast member to return from the original film.
In a recent interview, Anurag Basu revealed that the idea for the sequel was deeply inspired by the late Irfan Khan who acted in the original. Their absence is felt, but the new attire brings its attraction and emotional depth to the screen.
The romantic musical new release is facing strict competition from the new release ‘Jurassic World Ribrth’, which exploded the scene with a inauguration of ₹ 9 crore. However, with the engagement of positive words-mouth and strong viewers, ‘Metro in Dino’ is expected to maintain momentum in the coming days.
