Hollywood veteran Michael Bay, known for big-budget action franchises such as “Bad Boys” and “Transformers,” is in talks to direct his first series on Netflix.
If the deal goes through, it will be Bay’s second collaboration with the streamer following the 2019 film “6 Underground,” directed by Ryan Reynolds.
The series titled “Barbaric” is based on the Vault Comics comic series of the same name. Netflix will develop the project in collaboration with A+E Studios.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sam Claflin (“Me Before You”, “The Hunger Games” franchise) and Patrick Stewart (“X-Men”, the “Star Trek” films) will headline the cast.
The “Barbaric” comic, launched in 2021, was created by writer Michael Moreci and artist Nathan Gooden. According to the publishers, it featured a talking demonic axe and a barbarian named Owen who was looking for salvation and became a surprise hit after selling 500,000 units.
Claflin will play Owen, while Stewart will voice the demonic Axe.
Sheldon Turner, best known for his work on films such as “Up in the Air” and “X-Men: First Class,” will write the show and executive produce it.
