The Michael Jackson biopic title ‘Michael’ release date is expected to be delayed by 2026. It is being directed by Antony Fukeva.
During Lionsgate’s Q4 2025 income call, CEO John Felteimer shared an update on the film starring Jackson’s nephew Jafar Jackson, which makes his screen debut in the project.
“With respect to our Michael Jackson’s biopic, we are excited about 3 1/2 hours of amazing footage from manufacturer Graham King and director Antony Fukewa, and we will declare a fixed release strategy and time in the next few weeks. I will note that we will already slip ‘Michael’ for slipping.
The fiscal calendar ends on March 31, 2026, so Feltheimer’s statement indicates that the film (or films) will debut after April 1, 2026.
Last month, the variety reported that the film would probably be divided into two parts and will be pushed from the release date announced in early October 3, 2025.
According to Flatheimer’s statement, the film is likely to begin after April 1, 2026, as the 2026 fiscal calendar ends on 31 March.
The highly awaited ‘Michael’ was a major part of last year’s Lionsgate Cinemacon presentation, however, no footage was shown from the project during this year’s outing.
The film is produced by “Bohemian Rapsodi” Graham King. The film’s major photography was wrapped in May 2024, but John Logan’s script was in the process of revising before rehabilitation, the variety reported.
According to the outlet, The’Michael, ‘Callman Domingo and Nia Long Long will play the role of family heads Joe and Catherine Jackson, while Miles Taylor Jackson’s Attorney and Advisor John Branka will play the role of John Branka.
Laurenz will act as Berry Gordi, the founder of Tate Motown Records, while Laura Harrier would have depicted women music executive Suzanne de Pesse and Kat Graham, which would appear as the legendary Diana Ross.
Other actors of the film include Jessica Sula Ko La Toya Jackson, Michael’s elder sister; Live Simone in the form of Gladis Night; Kevin Shinik in the form of Dick Clarke; Kylin Durel Jones as Jackson’s former security-packed friend and confidant bill Bref; And as Quincy Jones, the icon of the Kandric Sampson industry, who first met Michael Jackson when he was just 12 years old, reported the variety.
The pair will proceed to collaborate on Michael’s three most successful albums: “Off the Wall of 1979,” Thriller “of 1982, and” Bad “of 1987.
