Pop sensation Miley Cyrus, known for her diverse style and powerful vocals, recently shared her thoughts about her Grammy success, shedding light on the journey that led her to finally feel “taken seriously” at the prestigious awards ceremony.
In a recent interview obtained by Variety, Cyrus expressed her surprise at receiving her first Grammy Award for her hit single ‘Flowers’, saying, “No doubt, but I’ve been doing this for 20 years, and this is the first time I’m being taken seriously at the Grammys?”
Despite an illustrious career spanning two decades and eight studio albums, Cyrus only recently felt a sense of validation upon winning a Grammy, making her feel proud of her accomplishments.
He questioned the industry’s criteria for recognition and highlighted the discrepancy between his impact on the culture and his previous nominations.
Cyrus’ Grammy success with her album “Endless Summer Vacation” proved to be a significant milestone in her career, receiving nominations for several categories including Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album.
The lead single ‘Flowers’ received widespread acclaim. During her performance of ‘Flowers’ at the Grammy ceremony, Cyrus personified the spirit of Tina Turner, giving a powerful performance that mesmerized the audience.
However, according to Variety, he nonchalantly questioned the audience’s lack of enthusiasm, “Why are you guys acting like you don’t know this song?”
Reflecting on her performance, Cyrus spoke about the inner turmoil she faces as a performer, and admitted she has to perform out of fear.
Despite her vast experience, the pressure of performing on such a large stage instilled a sense of vulnerability and bravery in Cyrus.
Apart from her solo endeavors, Cyrus also recently collaborated with music icon Beyoncé on the track ‘II Most Wanted’ from the album ‘Cowboy Carter.’
The collaboration, based on their shared Southern roots, marks a dream come true for Cyrus, who expressed her joy in not only singing but also writing for Beyoncé, as she said in an interview obtained by Variety.
