New Delhi: Actress Shweta Tripathi has teased that “Mirzapur: The Film” will be quite “explosive” with an unfiltered tone that will not shy away from holding a mirror up to society on issues like crime and violence.
The film, which will release in 2026, is a cinematic extension of the “Mirzapur” series and will be based on fan-favorite characters like Kaalin Bhaiya, Guddu Pandit and Munna Tripathi.
“I think it’s going to be quite explosive. It’s being written right now and we’re slowly figuring out what’s going on. But, I think, it’s not going to be neat. I think That it will be an adult film and I think we should be able to show what’s happening (in society),” said Tripathi, who plays Gajgamini Gupta aka Golu in “Mirzapur”. in an interview Told PTI.
Over the course of three seasons, “Mirzapur” has garnered widespread praise as well as praise for showcasing a grim and violent world where power, crime and human conflicts are portrayed with unflinching realism.
The actress said that she believes in telling stories that do not shy away from highlighting social issues, even if it makes the audience uncomfortable.
He said, “When people close their eyes and become uncomfortable, they should feel that way because every time we turn our heads and don’t acknowledge it, it doesn’t stop happening. We Have become so insensitive.”
Produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani under Excel Entertainment, “Mirzapur: The Film” stars Pankaj Tripathi as Kaalin Bhaiya, Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit and Munna Tripathi as Pankaj, despite Munna’s death in the second season of the show. Will bring back Divyendu.
The backbone of any successful show is writing and the same is true for “Mirzapur”, Tripathi said, adding that he believes the series challenges the idea of inherently “bad” people.
“What I like about the characters is that no one is born bad. And I am saying this because I have understood this from Munna’s character, not even my character. He Wanted love and validation because he didn’t get it, he took out all his anger and frustration on other people.
He added, “So we enable people, we demonize them. We push them into a corner that when they retaliate, we say what a bad person they are. But we’re all part of that.” Are.”
She credits the show’s co-writer Puneet Krishna and director Gurmeet Singh for creating relatable characters in the show.
“People didn’t judge him, I think it really helped… I come from a family that has loved me a lot and encouraged my dreams a lot. Poor Golu has a very bleak life. It’s a largely isolated border and motivated by vengeance.” Tripathi revealed that playing the character of Golu during three seasons took a toll on his mental health and he had to undergo therapy to deal with it.
“During the second season, Golu was driven by a lot of anger and vengeance because of the events that happened in his life. His whole life changed, it was all about survival… so Golu took over and felt it. Took time to do.
“When I spoke to Divyendu, he told me that Munna stayed with him even after the shooting. And that’s when I realized that this had happened to me too.” When she started shooting for season three, the actor thought she would be able to deal with the character’s impact on her but she failed.
“It was almost like a shadow. It takes over your entire existence and I had to seek therapy. My therapist told me, ‘You traumatize yourself so much to get into character. You have to get out of it. What do you do?’ This is equally important.
“They asked me to listen to my favorite songs. For example, I like to wear accessories, I like to wear colors but during the shooting I gave up all that. I used to just wear jeans and shirts, that’s all. Even the hair. Were bad.” Getting chopped and the way we look makes a difference but now for season four, I will be even more careful.” As an actress, Tripathi believes it is her duty to raise her voice on important issues. One cause that’s really close to him is speaking out about climate change through his work.
People are too “lost in our bubbles,” he added.
“Nature keeps giving us and I feel like we are exploiting it. When you see construction work going on wherever you go, it breaks my heart. Nature always keeps giving, but what do we do with it? We are very busy with our lives.” Tripathi is currently starring in the Netflix series “Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhen”, which recently returned with its second season.
Starring Tahir Raj Bhasin and Aanchal Singh, the romantic thriller show has been praised by critics for its story, twists, thrills and performances of the lead cast.
