The Academy announced the shortlisted films in this category on Tuesday missing ladies Didn’t make the cut.
One of the first people to respond, Ricky Cage, said in a lengthy post on X, “Year after year, we’re picking the wrong movies.”
Ricky feels that not only are we choosing the wrong films for the Oscars, but we also can’t think beyond the “mainstream Bollywood bubble” we live in.
He added, “There are so many excellent films made, and we should be winning the #InternationalFeatureFilm category every year! Unfortunately we live in a “Mainstream Bollywood” bubble, where we can’t see beyond the films we ourselves find entertaining ”
The composer also believes that only good films should be considered for this category, regardless of their budget or star cast.
He commented in the post, “We should only look for good films made by filmmakers who don’t compromise with their art… low budget or big budget… star or no star… simply great “Artistic Cinema.”
