Pratibha Ranta and Sparsh Srivastava became household names after starring in Kiran Rao’s critically acclaimed and hugely popular film Lapata Ladieswhich released in theatres earlier this year and is now streaming on Netflix. After the co-stars were photographed together several times, rumours were rife that they are dating. During a recent Ask Me Anything session on Instagram, the two were asked if they are dating. To this, Pratibha replied, “No, not at all.” Sparsh further added, “A boy and a girl can be just friends (A boy and a girl can just be friends).”
In a video recently posted by Netflix India, the two can be seen dancing to the song. go away saiyan From HiramandiThe caption on the video reads:Nothing brother, just going to look for the flower” (referring to the character in the film who gets lost while travelling on a train). The video was captioned, “Go to HattoWe are looking for Sajni.”
Set in rural India, the film is the story of two brides who get separated while travelling on a train and then lead a complicated journey. The film is produced under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions and Kindling Productions. Apart from Pratibha Ranta and Sparsh Srivastava, the film also stars Nitanshi Goyal, Ravi Kishan and Chhaya Kadam.
Film critics have given the film overwhelmingly positive reviews. In his review for NDTV, film critic Saibal Chatterjee said Lapata Ladies 3.5 out of 5 stars and wrote, “Based on a story by Biplab Goswami and written by Sneha Desai (who has also written the dialogues with additional inputs from Divyanidhi Sharma), Lapata Ladies It is a social satire with a clear feminist tone that makes the film stand out. The film is breezy and light. Hence, it is never in danger of getting bogged down by the heavy issues it addresses. Its simple call is in favour of the rights of women who are deprived of their dreams after marriage and is presented in simple ways that do not try to draw too much attention to itself.”
