New Delhi: Mohanlal who is making title on riot reference in L2 Empuraan. Malayalam Superstar has released an apology and also said that the production team of the film has decided to remove some mention in the film, which has expressed displeasure over some references to the riots of Gujarat. Mohanlal took on Facebook and shared a long note in Malayalam language.
The post reads, “I have come to know that the second part of the Lucifer franchise, some of the political and social subjects involved in the unveiling of Ampuran, has created a lot of crisis among many of my loved ones,”
Mohanlal regretted the crisis and wrote “As an artist, it is my duty to ensure that any of my films do not promote any political movement, ideology, or hatred towards religious groups. Therefore, both I and Empuran team expressed our honesty for our beloved crisis, and we all take responsibility for our dear people.
Expressing gratitude to his fans, more reading in Mohanlal’s post, “For the last four decades, this is you, the audience who has been part of my cinematic journey. Your love and faith is my strength. I believe that there is no mohanal beyond this.”
Subsequently, director-actor Prithviraj Sukumaran also shared Mohanlal’s Facebook post. The film has faced the film for a riot reference in the film. Earlier, L2 Empuraan’s production team announced that the film goes through amendment. According to ANI reports, 17 scenes, including the portrayal of violence against riot sequences and women, will be included, will be edited, and the new version will be released in theaters next week.
Talking about L2: Empuraan’s box office performance, Mohanlal’s film has achieved remarkable success, it became the first Malayalam film to cross Rs 100 crore at the box office worldwide in less than 48 hours, which was setting new benchmarks in cinematic history. L2: Empuraan performed well at the box office in its first three days, which according to the SACNILK report an estimated Rs 45.35 crore in India.
Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran. L2 is the sequel to Empuraan Lucifer (2019), produced by Antony Perumbavur, Gokulam Gopalan and Sabkkaran, which is under the banner of Ashirvad theaters, Sri Gokulam films and Laika Productions.
The film also includes Prithviraj, Towino Thomas, Abhimanyu Singh, Manju Warrior, Jerome Flynn and Erik Abounya. L2 Emupraan was released in theaters on 27 March.
