Murlikant Petkar receives Arjuna Award; Kartik Aryan calls it a dream moment, shares emotional video – watch

Actor Kartik Aryan on Friday congratulated Paralympic gold medalist Murlikant Petkar on receiving the Arjuna Award. Karthik shared a video on Instagram which shows a scene from the film ‘Chandu Champion’ and shows Murlikant Petkar actually receiving the award.

He wrote a long note, which read, “From living your incredible life on the big screen to seeing you receive the Arjuna Lifetime Achievement Award at Rashtrapati Bhavan today, it felt surreal.”

“Every moment was like a dream. Now our film #ChanduChampion has got its perfect ending (it started with you fighting for the Arjuna Award) but knowing you as an unstoppable champion, it couldn’t be the climax. ..Keep inspiring sir,” he further said.


He also felt proud and wrote, “Extremely proud to be present with you and the Honorable President of India at this moment in history… Salute to you and congratulations to all the Arjuna Awardees…”

As soon as the ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ actor dropped the post, netizens flooded the comments section with congratulatory messages.

Murlikant Petkar received the award from President Draupadi Murmu at a special ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Friday.

Karthik was present at the event with filmmaker Kabir Khan. Earlier on Thursday, Murlikant Petkar had expressed his feelings about getting recognition after the release of the film ‘Chandu Champion’.

As he is all set to receive the Arjuna Award, the great sportsman gave full credit to producer Sajid Nadiadwala

Muralikant Petkar told ANI, “These awards have been announced because of Sajid Nadiadwala because no one gives such a big honor to the disabled. I am getting recognition in the world because of Sajid Nadiadwala.”

He also shared that this is the recognition he wanted “throughout my journey as an Olympic gold medalist and a proud member of the Indian Army.”

“This award is a testament to the support I have received from the Government of India, the State of Maharashtra, the Rotary Club and many others who believed in me and helped me raise the recognition of athletes with disabilities. This film is about my journey, directed by Kabir Khan and starring Kartik Aryan, is the first film of its kind to highlight the life of a disabled athlete, and I am very grateful for his efforts. Earlier, filmmaker Kabir Khan, who directed Chandu Champion, had expressed happiness over the decision of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to give the Arjuna Award (Lifetime) to para-swimmer Muralikant Rajaram Petkar.

Speaking to ANI, Kabir Khan, who brought Murlikant Petkar’s story to the big screen with the film ‘Chandu Champion’, said he is happy with the athlete’s recognition.

“I am really very happy that this is happening with Muralikant Petkar because one of the things that I felt, which I portrayed in a certain way at the beginning of the film, was that he felt disrespected by the country. You know, when I met him, he wasn’t the kind of person who would complain. But you can sense that there’s a feeling of why I didn’t get the recognition that I should have and I am very happy after this 50 It’s been more than a year since he got the recognition he deserves,” said Kabir Khan.

During the war with Pakistan in 1965, Murlikant Petkar was hit by nine bullets. However, after the injury healed he decided not to give up and started participating in swimming and other sports again. Despite setbacks, he never gave up and always focused on achieving his goals and making India proud. In 1972, he created history by becoming India’s first Paralympic gold medalist.

Murlikant Petkar’s ‘never give up’ attitude, which the audience of ‘Chandu Champion’ liked, has added to the popularity of para-swimmers.

Kartik Aryan, who played the role of Murlikant Petkar in the film Chandu Champion, also expressed happiness over the para-swimmer being honored with the Arjuna Award.
