NDTV Exclusive: Salman Khan on Stardom: “Thinking whether you are God or a superstar can end your career”

New Delhi:

Bollywood’s undisputed star Salman Khan, once again ready to translate the silver screen with his much awaited Eid release, Alexander,

In an interview with NDTV, the conversation took an interesting turn when Salman Khan’s co-star, Rashmika Mandanna made an observation about her personality. He said that despite being one of the biggest names in the industry, Salman bears a comfortable aura rather than taking out the stereotypeical “superstar energy”.

Responding to his comment, Salman Khan shared his view on stardom, making it clear that he does not see himself as a big life figure.

“Superstars don’t work,” Salman Khan started, tried to clarify how he and his contemporary see themselves.

He said, “You will never hear us by calling superstars. You will never see in our films.” He then mentioned the biggest icon of South Indian cinema, which mentions names like Rajinikanth, Thalapathi Vijay and Suria.

Salman Khan said that any of them, despite his huge fan base and influence, carry an air of superiority on the set.

“They will never feel you that you are working with someone older than life,” he explained.

For Salman Khan, the main Techwae is that the true stardom lies in the love and acceptance of the audience.

“We don’t think we are gods. We have created ourselves because of those who support us,” he said. He emphasized that the film industry is constant by its audience, and it is his belief that determines the standing of an actor.

Salman Khan also released a word of caution for those who allowed fame to go to their heads. He warned, “The moment someone started thinking of himself as a god, as a superstar, his career would fall,” he warned.

He also mentioned that there are no actors in the film industry today who call themselves “superstars”.

For someone living in the industry for three decades, Salman Khan understands the weight of the “superstar” tag, yet he chooses to navigate his career with the same simplicity and attitude that Rashamika Mandanna has described with such a suitability.

For his upcoming film AlexanderStunned by AR Murugados, it acts as Rashmika Mandanna in the lead female role. With 2 hours and 20 -minute runtime, the film is designed to complete the wider audience.

Nadidwala grandchildren are a clutter in the film, supported by Sajid Nadiadwala under the entertainment banner, including Kajal Aggarwal, Satyaraj, Sharman Joshi, Pratic Babbar, Anjini Dhawan and Jatin Sara.
