Kapil Sharma received the Global Entertainer of the Year Award. He received this honor at NDTV’s Indian of the Year Awards 2024 in Delhi. Kapil, who is known for his killer sense of humor, never missed an opportunity to tickle us. The comedian turned actor also recalled the time when he had come to the same place for a singing program. He said, “20 years ago I had come to this same hotel with a singer and had come to perform as a chorus singer…a background singer. Today after 20 years, I am receiving the award in the same hotel. I am really very grateful to God. 20 years ago, I came to his hotel for a singing program. A fellow artist also joined me. We were background singers. And, today, I am getting an award here. I feel great.]”
Talking about his journey in the industry, he said, ‘When I started this show, they were not giving me more than 24 episodes. The show was made for a period of 3 months. And, today it has been 12 years. My journey has been eventful. I started with theatre. I spent many years in Delhi and then I came to Mumbai. I thank God for showing me the way. Things changed after she was selected in a reality show. This was my first time flying. I liked it very much. There have been ups and downs but I guess that’s life.
Kapil Sharma also talked about people’s madness towards social media. “We are too immersed in social media,” he said. We want to know what America has said to Ukraine but we have no information whether our father has fallen in the bathroom next door or not.
Kapil Sharma further said, ‘By spending a lot of time on social media, we are giving people an opportunity to come into our world. I believe that we should minimize the use of social networking sites. I have been practicing it for the last few months. I have limited my time on the platforms. I know there are many reasons for a person to spend time on social media. We don’t all have the same setting and there are circumstances that change the course of things. But yes, don’t forget that every day demands a new beginning.
Kapil Sharma will welcome veteran actress Rekha in the upcoming episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix. It will premiere on Saturday night at 8 pm. He is also known for his work in films like Zweigato and crew.
