New Delhi: One of the much-awaited spiritual sequels of 2026, Slaughter 2, is getting closer to its theatrical release, with the film generating significant buzz even after the launch of its trailer.
Sanjay Mishra, Neena Gupta and Kumud Mishra recently visited the National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi. The trio, all proud alumni, were warmly welcomed by students, faculty members and theater enthusiasts.
During the conversation, Neena Gupta opened up about the changing dynamics of roles and opportunities in the industry. Responding to a question on how earlier roles often reached her only after senior actors like Shabana Azmi and Dimple Kapadia, she simply said, “It’s a matter of time.”

Reflecting on how times have changed, Gupta said that roles now come to her first, and move on only if she chooses to reject them. Emphasizing that success is a matter of timing rather than merit, he highlighted the importance of being ready when the opportunity arises. The actor also talked about the need to prioritize health and discipline, saying that maintaining fitness and resisting everyday temptations is essential to survive in cinema for a long time and do justice to meaningful work.

Meanwhile, Sanjay Mishra recalled his formative years in NSD and the invaluable lessons he learned from watching his seniors, especially the late Irrfan Khan. Sharing an anecdote, Mishra said that watching actors like Irrfan Khan, Virendra Saxena, Ankur Vikal, Robin Das and Anup Soni was an education in itself. He recalled his thought once during Irrfan Khan’s performance, “I don’t even know what I learned or didn’t learn in NSD, but I really had people like Irrfan bhai. You could just look at them. Virendra Saxena was there, Ankur ji was there, Robin Das is sitting in front of you today and you are busy looking at your mobile phones. Just looking at them was a lesson in itself. Anup da and these were the people you kept looking at. I remember That once when Irrfan Bhai was performing, he thought, ‘When will this guy start acting?’ That’s the level he was playing the game at,” a comment that underlined the naturalism and mastery of the late actor’s art.
