The singer took the stage to a packed house performing songs like India Wale from Happy New Year and Tu Hai Ho from Mr and Mrs Mahi.
Neeti Mohan is extremely excited about her first performance at the Paris Olympics. The singer took to the stage on August 8 at India House, a platform that aims to support Indian athletes and act as a ‘home away from home’ for them. India House is the first time the country has set up an area at the Olympics to promote Indian culture, while also projecting the country as a potential candidate to host Olympic Games in the future.

“Emotional and happy” after her show she tells us, “I never imagined something like this would happen to me. I had the chance to perform in Paris, in front of such a fantastic crowd, and I am so thrilled and overwhelmed.”
It was a “memorable day” for the 44-year-old singer, where she got the chance to sing several of her songs, such as India Wale (Happy New Year; 2014) and Tu Hai Ho (Mr & Mrs Mahi) in front of an eager audience. “I performed a medley of some old songs and one of my songs. People were singing along to every song. They were jumping, dancing and getting emotional,” she adds.
Mohan wore a blue lehenga with Western influences for her performance because “the Olympics are for an international audience”. “I wanted to wear an Indian outfit, so I wore the lehenga on stage. Instead of a dupatta, I chose a jacket because I wanted my outfit to be a fusion. It is a stunning piece with heavy embroidery and lots of glitter. Blue represents Indianness, which is why I chose this colour too.”

When asked if she was able to tick off any items on her bucket list during her visit to the French capital, the singer said, “I always wanted to go to the Eiffel Tower wearing a sari and I am thrilled that I was able to tick that off my list. I used to visualise myself wearing a sari, you know. I wanted to take my India with me and I did that today.”
