Earlier this week, Justin Timberlake’s attorney Edward D. Burke Jr. emphasized that police officers sometimes “make mistakes.” In the wake of his client’s ongoing DWI arrest case, his lawyer said the “Mirrors” singer “was not intoxicated” as his team eyes a dismissal of the criminal charge.
The latest twist now suggests that things are possibly going in Timberlake’s favor, involving a woman who reportedly returned to the scene to take his rental car home after his arrest.
How will Justin Timberlake’s lawyers argue to dismiss his DWI arrest case?
The “SexyBack” singer has been going through a legal battle during his world tour after he was pulled over for allegedly driving under the influence in the Hamptons last month. Court records further state that a drunk Timberlake was stopped in Sag Harbor, Long Island on June 18 after he violated a stop sign and changed lanes after partying with his friends at a hotel.
However, TMZ reported on July 29 that the woman in Timberlake’s friend’s car, whom he had apparently been following, returned to the location where the singer was stopped. Afterwards, she asked officers if they were going to arrest Justin.

Upon receiving an answer, she offered to drive him home, strategically suggesting that the police should let him go because she and her husband would take him home safely, where he could regain consciousness. However, we all know what that turned out to be. In fact, Timberlake was arrested that very night.
But a source with direct knowledge of the incident revealed that what’s wrong with this latest development is that the woman who allegedly offered to drive Timberlake’s rental car to his house when it was decided he was going to jail was reportedly one of his drinking buddies that night. Despite this, the two officers on the scene let her drive off with the car while arresting Timberlake. According to TMZ’s sources, the woman arrived at The American Hotel two hours before Justin did and was also drunk.

Timberlake’s lawyers, who are now doing everything they can to have the case dismissed, are expected to draw attention to this twist, and argue that the young cops on the scene that night made the wrong decision in letting a man who had clearly been drinking drive and flee.
Police previously claimed the pop star had failed multiple alcohol tests and smelled of alcohol when he was stopped on June 18. Timberlake refused to take a breath test and said he had only had one martini.
