Newsin demands reinstatement of former CEO Min Hee Jin: Hyeb given 2-week deadline

On September 11, 2024, girl band Newseens livestreamed on a YouTube account that was not associated with their company’s account. They asked music label HYBE to reinstate former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin’s position. The members mentioned that they want this step to be taken by September 25, 2024, which is about 2 weeks from now. Unfortunately, the broadcast has been removed from its original channel, but fans have re-uploaded it to various social media apps.

What if HYBE can’t meet the demand of newgens?

Many are speculating that this could be a warning from the girl band that their exclusive contract could be terminated if their demands are not met in time. According to Allkpop’s report, the artists can take several steps to end the contract.

First, they must file a complaint against their parent company (HYBE), and will be given two weeks to respond. After two weeks the company must resolve the issue and if they do not do so or fail to meet the artist’s expectations the artist can file an injunction or contract termination lawsuit. An injunction is a legal recognition of the invalidity of a contract.

It is being speculated that Newseon may be planning to give HYBE a two-week deadline. It is possible that Min Hye Jin or her parents have hired a legal team to help them.

What did newsies say about the mistreatment of HYBE?

Newseen’s Hanni shared a sad experience she had in a building where she was ‘rejected’ after greeting a manager and his team. As Koreaboo reports, Hanni said, “The hair and makeup rooms are on the fourth floor of the building. It’s a place where other artists and staff often come and go. By the way, I was waiting alone in the hallway, and another group and one of their managers walked past me. We greeted each other warmly.”

She described the moment when the same manager instructed his team to “ignore him” when they met again, even though they had had a friendly conversation before. “In front of me. I can see and hear everything, but the manager said, ‘Ignore him.’ I don’t even know why I had to do that. I am speechless when I hear this.”

NEWGEN member Minzy expressed the group’s demand, saying, “We want Min Hye Jin to remain as CEO, the original ADOR where management and production were together. This way we will be able to stop fighting with HYBE. If you have clearly understood our opinion, we request HYBE and Chairman Bang to make the wise decision to bring ADOR back to the state it was originally by the 25th.”

Haine also requested to HYBE, “The way HYBE operates is not honest and ethical. Please stop harassing us. Reinstate CEO Min and return ADOR to its original state, not to this unfamiliar environment. I am not asking you to treat us better. I am just asking that we work separately from our respective locations. I hope you will listen to our demands.”
