American rapper Nicki Minaj revealed on social media on Saturday that she was detained at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport for allegedly possessing soft drugs.
Minaj, 41, was taken into custody just hours before she was set to perform at a concert in Manchester, England.
Dutch military police confirmed that a 41-year-old American woman was detained on Saturday for possession of drug paraphernalia, adding that transporting such substances out of the Netherlands is prohibited.
Police did not reveal the identity of the suspect, but a later post on social media platform X said the woman was fined and released at around 1945 GMT.
The incident occurred when Minaj was supposed to kick off her concert at Manchester Co-op Live in Manchester, England.
The singer previously posted a video on X in which a Schiphol employee apparently told her that police wanted to “search all of her stuff.”
Another video on her social media showed a police officer telling her that she was “carrying drugs.” Minaj denies this in the video.
“Now they have said they found marijuana and another group of people have to come here to weigh the pre-rolls,” he said in another post.
The former “American Idol” judge performed a show at Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome on Thursday and is scheduled to return there for another show on June 2.
Minaj is known for starting her shows late. On Thursday, she took the stage nearly three hours later than scheduled.
