“I am in shock and need to be with my family, but this award is for her,” Nicole Kidman said in a written statement, which was read aloud by director Helena Reijnen while accepting the award, as seen in a video posted on X.
The actress added, “She shaped me, she guided me and she made me. I’m so grateful that I get to share her name with all of you through Helena.” The Big Little Lies star revealed that she made it to Venice, but was told shortly after that her “beautiful, brave mother, Janelle Ann Kidman, had passed away.” “The collision of life and art is heartbreaking, and my heart is broken,” she added.
