Filmmaker Mani Ratnam recently shared that he initially considered casting Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol for his 2000 hit alai pethuthi But ultimately abandoned the idea as he was unable to finalize the film’s climax.

But I hadn’t cracked the last element of the story. If you’ve seen Alai Pethay, it’s built around one day, and we’re going back to that day, and when the accident happens and the wife goes missing, he’s searching for her. So, I didn’t have that element at that time. So, we shifted to Dil Se. ,

The filmmaker explained that he was able to solve the missing element of Alai Pythe while making his 1998 film from the heartIn which Shahrukh Khan and Manisha Koirala acted. “Once I was finishing with Dil, I was able to solve this problem with Alai Pythe and still be interested in doing it,” he said.
