Chennai: Saying that Dhanush was “right fit” to play the role of Kalam, filmmaker Om Raut has now thanked the actor for choosing an integral part of his upcoming film, ‘Kalam: The Missile Man of India’.
Currently in Cannes 2025, filmmaker Om Raut announced his next direction venture, the most beloved President of India, Dr. A monumental biopic on APJ Abdul Kalam. The title of the film was unveiled at the prestigious Film Festival, where Raut also said in the much awaited project and shared Dhanush on casting in the lead role.
Talking about the film, Raut said, “Dr. Kalam’s teachings are instigated in every youth. I read his book ‘Wings of Fire’ when I am in college, and I can say that whatever I am doing today, and whatever I want is inspired by teaching in that book. It changed my attitude on life and it is right that I stand today.”
He said, “I have always been deeply inspired by Dr. Kalam’s journey. His life was anchored in three major aspects with what I have seen. The first education is. He was a great teacher who kept immense value on learning quality.
Explaining the decision to cast a bow, Raut said, “When portraying Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, it is necessary to catch not only his achievements, but also his spiritual travel and teachings. It is the most challenging part of such biopic. This important project.”
Known for the direction of acclaimed films like ‘Tanhaji: The Unsang Warrier’, ‘Lokmanya’, and others, Om Raut entered the director’s chair for ‘Kalam: The Missile Man of India’.
The film is in the news by Dhanush and is produced by Abhishek Agarwal, a driving force behind ‘The Kashmir Files’ and ‘Parmanu’. The screenplay is written by Saivin Quadras, known for his work on impressive biopics such as ‘Neerja’ and ‘Maidan’.
