New Delhi: The Kapoor family met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on December 10 for a special meeting ahead of the upcoming Raj Kapoor 100 Film Festival.
The festival will celebrate the centenary of one of the most iconic figures of Indian cinema, Raj Kapoor, who died in 1988. Kareena, Saif, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Neetu Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor and other families were present in the meeting held in Delhi. The members come together to discuss upcoming celebrations.
Kareena shared adorable pictures of the meeting on social media, where the Kapoor family looked very happy to meet the Prime Minister.
The pictures also show Saif and Ranbir interacting with PM Modi.
However, the highlight of the post was Kareena asking the PM for autographs for her sons, Taimur and Jeh.
The Prime Minister politely wrote “Tim and Jeh” on a piece of paper, a gesture that delighted fans on social media.
Kareena expressed her gratitude for this special meeting in an emotional post. “We are deeply humbled and honored to be invited by the Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to celebrate the extraordinary life and legacy of our grandfather, the great Raj Kapoor. Thank you Shri Modi ji for such a special afternoon. Thank you Shri Modi ji for your warmth. The attention, and support in celebrating this milestone means the world to us,” she wrote.
Kareena also shared details of the Raj Kapoor 100 Film Festival, which will take place from December 13 to 15, 2024.
He further added, “As we celebrate 100 glorious years of Dada’s artistry, vision and contribution to Indian cinema, we honor the timeless impact of his legacy, which will continue to inspire us and future generations.”
The festival will screen Raj Kapoor’s 10 iconic films across 40 cities and 135 theatres, with tickets priced at Rs 100.
The announcement of the film festival, which will include screening of classic films like ‘Aag’, ‘Barsaat’, ‘Awaara’, ‘Shree 420’ and ‘Mera Naam Joker’, has raised excitement among cinema lovers.
The films restored for modern audiences will be shown in PVR-INOX and Cinepolis cinemas across India.
In a recent appearance at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2024, Ranbir Kapoor discussed the importance of preserving his grandfather’s work, and emphasized the collaborative efforts involved in restoring Raj Kapoor’s films.
Ranbir commented, “It is important that we remember our roots – not just Raj Kapoor, but the many filmmakers and artists who have left an indelible mark on Indian cinema.”
