It received strongly positive reviews and performed excellently at the box office, grossing over $260 million worldwide. Now it has an OTT release date in India. JioHotstar posted a promo of the film on its official Instagram account and announced the release date of the film on the platform. The caption reads, “While evil lurks in the town of Maybrook, everyone is searching for answers.

Weapons revolves around a small-town mystery where the sudden disappearance of several children at the same time shocks everyone. It all came down to a random incident on Wednesday morning when 17 children in the fictional town of Maybrook rose from their beds and ran off into the night. They never came back. Julia Garner plays the school’s class teacher, who is at the center of the allegations as questions pile up regarding her mysterious disappearance. Weapons also stars Austin Abrams, Carrie Christopher, Benedict Wong and Amy Madigan.
Do you know that this film was sold to the production house New Line for an astonishing amount of $38 million? In January 2023, the bidding war for arms came down to two production houses – New Line and Universal. Writer-director Jordan Peele, of Get Out and Nope fame, actually wanted to produce the film, but Universal’s bid for Weapons was $7 million less than New Line’s. The film was a major box office success, grossing $269.1 million. The highest-grossing horror film of 2025 is Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, which collected $366.7 million worldwide.
