Padma Award 2025: On the eve of Republic Day, 2025 Padma Awards were unveiled, in which 139 persons were honored for outstanding contribution in various fields. Those who received the award include late musicians Sharda Sinha and Pankaj Udhas, Tamil cinema veteran Ajit Kumar, Telugu star Nandamuri Balakrishna, famous filmmaker Shekhar Kapoor and famous singer Arijit Singh.
Sharda Sinha, Vasudevan Nair to Padma Vibhushan
Folk music icon Sharda Sinha and acclaimed Malayalam director MT Vasudevan Nair were posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan, the second largest civilian honor of the country in honor of his extraordinary service and achievements.
Pankaj Udhas, Ajit Kumar, Nandamuri Balakrishna got Padma Bhushan
Ajit Kumar, Shekhar Kapoor, Telugu actor Nandamuri Balakrishna, veteran actor Anant Nag and versatile Bharatanatyam dancer Shobhana along with Ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas were also awarded the third highest honor Padma Bhushan.
Arijit Singh, Ricky Cage Padma Shri
With famous celebrities like Arijit Singh, actor Ashok Saraf, theater leading Barry John, singer Jaspinder Narula and Grammy winning composer Ricky Cage, the fourth largest civilian award will be received by Padma Shri.
About Padma Awards
The Padma Award, India’s most prestigious civilian honor, is awarded in three categories: Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. This year’s list includes many prominent personalities from different fields.
This year’s list includes seven Padma Vibhushan, 19 Padma Bhushan and 113 Padma Shri Awards. Among those who were honored are 23 women and 10 foreign nationals, NRIs, PIOs and OCIs. Additionally, 13 recipients have been posthumously awarded. As the tradition, the Padma Awards are announced every year on the eve of Republic Day.
Padma Awards recognize excellence in many fields including art, social service, public affairs, science and technology, commerce and industry, health care, literature and education, sports and civil services.
