Islamabad: According to Dawn, Haniya died of a heart attack on Sunday, August 11.
The news of his demise was shared by his cousin and music partner Zeb Bangash through an Instagram post.
Bangash’s post features several poignant photos of Hania and is captioned, “Hanini.”
Following the news of Haniya’s death, members of the Pakistani film industry, as well as Indian musicians and filmmakers, condoled her death.
Lyricist and singer Swanand Kirkire shared a screenshot of his last conversation with Hania Aslam on his Instagram handle.
He wrote a long and heartfelt note confirming the news. He also revealed that he was working on an album which will now remain incomplete.
He wrote, “My dear Haniya Aslam @citrushaniya is no more. She suffered a heart attack and passed away peacefully last night. We shared a special bond when we worked together on @dewarists 2. ‘Kaho kya khayal hai’ I am sharing my last conversation with her which happened just a few days ago. We have an unfinished album which we were working on together.”
He wrote, “@zebbangash, many best wishes to you and your family. May God give you the strength to overcome this grief. Hania, we will see you on the other side. Until then, your sweet voice and melodious guitar tunes will keep ringing in our ears, reminding us of the terrible loss of losing you.”
On Monday, Kiran Rao paid tribute to Hania on Instagram.
“Hania your music will live on in our hearts,” he wrote.
Huma Qureshi also expressed condolences.
“Thank you for the music, RIP Hania Aslam,” she wrote on Instagram.
Haniya has also worked in India. She collaborated with composer A.R. Rahman in the song “Sooha Saha” from the film Highway.
