New Delhi: Veteran actor Bobby Deol is enjoying a wave of appreciation after his power-packed performance in Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, Ba**ed of Bollywood. While fans are appreciating his screen presence and intensity, Bobby has shed light on his family’s personal life in a new interview, revealing that his parents, legendary actor Dharmendra and his first wife, Prakash Kaur, are currently living together in their farmhouse in Khandala. This revelation comes amid ongoing speculation over Dharmendra’s emotional social media posts, which often raise concerns among fans about his well-being.
Speaking to ABP Live, Bobby addressed his father’s tendency to express his emotions publicly, saying, “Papa is very emotional. He is very expressive. He shares what he feels with everyone… Sometimes he goes too far, and then I ask him why he wrote what he wrote or why he said what he said, and he tells me he was just following his heart. Yes, of course, we would meet him. Yes, but we are busy sometimes, and he gets emotional. They have no idea how many people may read their posts.”
Contrary to public perception, he also clarified that Dharmendra is not alone. “My mom is also there. They both are at the farm in Khandala now. Dad and mom are together; that just gets a little dramatic. They like staying in the farmhouse. They have also grown old now, and living in the farmhouse is comfortable for them. The weather is good, the food is good. Dad has made it a paradise there.”

“My mother is the strongest woman I know.”
While Dharmendra and his sons Sunny and Bobby remain in the headlines, Prakash Kaur has largely remained away from the public eye. Bobby explained why he is rarely talked about in public. “You don’t hear much about my mother because people don’t usually ask us about her,” he said. “My mother is a housewife and I’m her favorite. We talk every day. In fact, she called me twice just today.”
He praised her strength and resilience, saying, “She is the strongest woman I have ever met in my life… She came from a small village, and the way of living was very simple. And then, adjusting to city life as the wife of a superstar… it was not easy. I am whatever I am because of my wife and the same is the case with my father. It is because of my mother’s support that my father became a big star.”
Dharmendra’s family history
Dharmendra married Prakash Kaur in 1954, when he was just 19 years old. The couple has four children, sons Sunny and Bobby Deol and daughters Ajeeta and Vijeta. However, his relationship with actress Hema Malini has been a topic of public interest for a long time.
The actor fell in love with Hema Malini during the shooting of Tum Haseen Main Jawaan in 1970. Despite initial opposition from Hema’s family, the two eventually married in 1980, with Prakash Kaur reportedly converting to Islam to marry legally without divorcing her. Hema and Dharmendra have two daughters, Esha and Ahana Deol.
Public affection and lifelong bond
Earlier this year, Bobby Deol marked his parents’ 71st wedding anniversary with a social media post, which featured a rare picture of Dharmendra and Prakash Kaur.
On the professional front, Bobby Deol cemented his place among the most compelling actors of his generation, earning widespread praise for his intense performance in Ba**ads of Bollywood.
