Parineeti Chopra and Raghav Chaddha, who got married last year, shared their journey from first meeting to a grand wedding in Udaipur. In conversation with Rajat Sharma, the couple revealed that they first met during an awards ceremony in London. Parineeti described the moment with a mixture of humor and nostalgia. “I was there to receive an Outstanding Achiever award in Entertainment and he (Raghav) was there to receive an award in Politics and Governance,” she said.
She said, “I didn’t know Raghav. My brother was a big fan of his. My brother Shivang asked me to meet him. I told the organizers that I wanted to meet Raghav. Raghav was sitting behind me. I I went closer and said, ‘Hello, I am Parineeti, my brother is a big fan of yours.’ He said, ‘We will meet’, I said, of course, we will meet in Mumbai: why don’t we meet here tomorrow? I was stunned.” To this Raghav Chadha humorously replied, “Nekh kaam deri kaise?” (Why should I delay a good deed)?
Parineeti further said, “I agreed. The next morning, I went with my three managers. They had also come with the organisers. There were about 10 to 12 people at the table. It was not a date. The entire palanquin was present. I Told myself, what’s going on? From here we both talked about the whole world. I told him that I do meditation and scuba diving. He was hungry. , stood up, and brought a plate full of food. I thought, guys are usually hesitant when they meet for the first time. I said to myself, this is the right guy for me.
Then the decisive moment came for Parineeti. “And now the movie moment started. He came with his plate of food and started eating. I was just looking at him. A bell rang in my mind. I said to myself, I am going to marry this man.”
However, there was a twist. Parineeti admitted, “I didn’t know anything about him. He looked handsome, our food preferences matched. As soon as the meeting was over, I went upstairs to my room and started Googling – Who is Raghav Chadha? I also put ‘What is the age of Raghav Chadha?’ I also got this from Google. He is an MP in the Rajya Sabha. Then I said to myself (in Punjabi) Vyaah to main inali karangi (I will only marry him).”
When Rajat Sharma asked Raghav if he knew who Parineeti Chopra was, he replied, “Yes, I knew about her. When she agreed to meet the next morning, I decided, why not “Let me hit a four.”
The couple’s relationship progressed with more meetings and when Parineeti returned to India for her shooting, the couple continued to meet in Punjab. Raghav said, “We met a lot and gradually the relationship continued.”
When asked whether their meetings were secret or open, Raghav laughed and replied, “Earlier we used to meet secretly. Earlier we used to meet secretly. I told my colleagues, I have to go to meet someone. Yes. We met at 8:30 in the morning.” Night. She completed her shooting, asked her security staff to leave, and came alone in the car. Then we went to a field to sit alone.
ICYDK, Parineeti Chopra and Raghav got married on September 24 last year at The Leela Palace Hotel in Udaipur, Rajasthan. The wedding was an intimate affair attended by only close friends and family members.
