The Summer Olympics will return to the city of light in 2024, when they will be held for the third time from July 26 to August 11. Some of the famous landmarks hosting the Paris Olympics in 2024 include the Eiffel Tower and Marseille.
5 beautiful venues for Paris Olympics 2024
Eiffel Tower –
It is a major tourist destination, attracting millions of visitors each year, making it the crown jewel of the city. Beach volleyball will be held in a temporary venue beneath the Eiffel Tower, and wrestling and judo will be held in the Champs de Mars park.
Grand Palace –
The Grand Palace Art Gallery, a spectacular glass and steel structure built for the 1900 World’s Fair, will serve as the grand backdrop for fencing and taekwondo competitions. Its highlight is its spectacular glass domed roof, which stretches across a vast 13,500 square metres of exhibition space and is the largest of its kind in Europe.
Place de la Concorde –
The area, located beneath the Champs-Elysées Avenue, which is largely paved, serves as an urban sports center. The square, which is located at the Invalides War Museum right in front of Napoleon’s tomb, will host events such as BMX freestyle, 3×3 basketball, breakdancing and skating.
Palace of Versailles –
Versailles, once a hunting resort, was converted into a royal residence by Louis XIV in the 17th century. Dressage and showjumping will be held at the Versailles Palace, 20 kilometres from Paris, which will also host cross-country and pentathlon events. The palace gardens, which feature a mile-long canal, have been a World Heritage Site since 1979 and are a popular tourist destination.
Marseille –
The sailing competitions will be held in Marseille, the hometown of the Olympic Marseille football team. More than 300 sailors will take part in the waters of the Mediterranean Sea east of the city, where a new marina has been built. Despite the usual winter and springtime winds of the Mistral wind, Marseille will also host ten football matches and serve as the starting point for the Olympic torch relay on 8 May.
