Paris Olympics 2024: 7 things you can only do in Paris

Paris, the City of Lights, is renowned for its fascinating journeys and rich cultural heritage. The city is famous for its great food, stunning scenery and high fashion. It is also the birthplace of some famous brands and artists. With its centuries-old architecture, interesting history, vibrant food and arts sectors and a multinational population that constantly pushes the boundaries of inventiveness, the French capital really has it all.

7 things you can only do in Paris –

  1. Shop at the Saint-Ouen Flea Market: The Paris Flea Market only trades on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays. The largest antiques market worldwide is in Paris. It is made up of around 2,500 shops spread across 15 markets.
  2. Visit Montmartre: This village has its roots in bohemian art. Located on the highest hill in Paris, the gleaming white Sacré-Cœur Basilica, which opened its doors in 1910, is perched on the hill.
  3. Mass Burial: Go 66 feet down into Paris’ underground cemetery, a labyrinth of galleries that shelter the remains of millions of Parisians.
  4. Enjoy croissants: In France, croissants are considered an everyday food. Take a croissant-making class to get a real taste of French cuisine.
  5. Explore the Louvre – the largest museum on earth with 403 rooms, 14.5 kilometres of corridors and almost 73,000 square metres of exhibition space. On display are 33,000 artefacts from its nearly 500,000-strong collection that spans several millennia and continents. A popular wing among guests is the Egyptian one.
  6. Picnic with a View – A popular attraction, the Notre-Dame Cathedral is often full. Instead of waiting in line, head to the banks of the Seine just west of the Porte de Montebello with your picnic bag. From there, one can view the cathedral’s “forest” or wooden lattice structure, which is made up of oak trees.
  7. Have Dinner on the Seine River – It can be hard to choose one of the many dinner cruises available on the Seine River. The best place to see the Eiffel Tower sparkle is on deck on the boats
