The New York Film Festival unveiled the main line-up for its 62nd edition on Tuesday. The main line-up of the annual festival presented by Film at Lincoln Center will include 33 feature films. This year the main line-up is notably international, with films from 24 countries, and includes 19 directors making their debut in the festival’s most prestigious section.

As previously announced, the festival will kick off on September 27 with RaMell Ross. The Nickel BoysAn adaptation of Colson Whitehead’s Pulitzer Prize-winning 2019 novel. Almodóvar, who will be making his 15th appearance at New York’s main slate, will present An adjoining roomThe highlight of the festival is Steve McQueen’s film, starring Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton. the BlitzThe closing night film will be The Blitz, about the bombing of London in World War II.
Many of the award winners from May’s Cannes Film Festival will make their premieres in the US or North America. “The festival’s ambition is to reflect the state of cinema in a given year, which often means also reflecting the state of the world,” festival artistic director Dennis Lim said in a statement. “What’s most remarkable about the films in the main slate — and in the other sections we’ll announce in the coming weeks — is the extent to which they emphasize cinema’s relationship to reality. They’re a reminder that, in the hands of its most important practitioners, film has the capacity to understand, intervene in, and reimagine the world.”

Also coming to New York: Mike Leigh’s The harsh truthBrady Corbett The Brutalistwhich stars Adrien Brody as an architect and Holocaust survivor, and features the world premiere of Julia Loktev My Undesirable Friend: Part I – The Last Journey to MoscowA documentary about independent journalism in Putin’s Russia.
The two filmmakers have two films on the main slate. By stream And A traveler’s needs South Korean director Hong Sangsu’s first film will screen at the festival, while Chinese documentary maker Wang Bing will present his second and third films. Youth Trilogy: Youth (Hard Times) And Youth (homecoming).

Running from September 27 to October 14, the New York Film Festival will be held at Lincoln Center and a few other venues around the city.
