Green was never a traditional leading man. He made his career out of roles that seemed a little unbalanced, sometimes scary, sometimes tragic, often both.

Life and travels of Peter Green

Born in Montclair, New Jersey on October 8, 1965, Green’s first screen appearance was in the NBC crime drama Hardball in 1990. Two years later, he starred in his first feature role in Laws of Gravity, sharing the screen with Edie Falco.

After that things progressed rapidly. In 1993, Green played the lead role in Clean, Shaven, a harsh, uncomfortable film that gained attention on the festival circuit. The film screened at the 1994 Cannes Film Festival and helped establish him as a promising actor.

The roles that defined Peter Green

The year 1994 changed everything. Green played Jade in Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction. The film won the Palme d’Or at Cannes and became a cultural marker. Green’s role, brief but brutal, was a big part of the film’s success.

That same year, he appeared in The Mask alongside Jim Carrey as the film’s main villain Dorian Tyrell. Since then, Green has remained busy between studio films and smaller projects.

His other popular films include The Usual Suspects, Training Day, Blue Streak, End Game, and The Bounty Hunter. On television, he was a regular on NBC’s The Black Donnellys and had recurring roles on Life on Mars and Chicago PD. His most recent screen appearance was in an episode of The Continental, the John Wick prequel series.

Peter Green’s last projects

Green was still working on projects. His manager said he has two upcoming releases, including a documentary with Mickey Rourke about mascots and a documentary titled From the American People: The Withdrawal of USAID, which also featured Jason Alexander and Kathleen Turner.

“He was one of the best character actors on the planet,” Edwards told Deadline.

He said that Greene cared deeply about the subject matter of the documentary. “He was passionate about shining a light on all the deaths around the world as a result of the US dismantling USAID,” he said.

On a personal level, Edwards described Green, saying, “He was a good friend who would give you the shirt off his back. He was loved and will be missed.”

Green is survived by a brother and a sister.
