New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences to the family of veteran Telugu actor and former MLA Kota Srinivas Rao, who died on Sunday morning in Hyderabad. He was 83 years old.
PM Modi recalled the actor for his “reversing” performance and social service for his longer four -decade long career.

Earlier, Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu expressed deep grief and heartfelt condolences for the family of veteran Telugu actor Kota Srinivasa Rao after the actor’s death.
In an official statement, the governor described the demise as “irreparable loss to the Telugu film industry”.
Expressing his shock and sorrow, Governor Reddy said, “The death of famous actor Kota Srinivasa Rao, who won the cinema audience with his versatile roles, has his artistic contribution in the areas of cinema and theater in about four decades, and the roles he portrayed,”
Governor Reddy Nallu, especially in Telugu films, recalled the actor’s legacy in Indian cinema, where he especially left a permanent impression through a wide range of powerful performances as a villain and character artist.
He said, “The many memorable role he played will remain in the hearts of the Telugu audience forever.”
Apart from his contribution to cinema, the governor also accepted the service of Kota Srinivasa Rao in public life.
The late actor was elected as an MLA from Vijayawada in 1999, and underlined his commitment to the people.
Governor Reddy concluded his message by expressing his deep condolences to the bereaved family and praying for strength and peace during this difficult time.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu also mourned his death, calling it “irreparable loss” to the Telugu film industry.
In a post on X, CM Chandrababu Naidu said, “The death of famous actor Kota Srinivasa Rao, who won the cinema audience with his versatile roles, is deeply saddened. He is deeply saddened. He plays his artistic contribution in cinema and theater fields in almost four decades. The artist will always remain in the hearts of the Telugu audiences.”
Apart from the politician, the film fraternity also expressed his grief, sorrow and expressed his condolences to Rao’s family after his unfortunate demise.
Tollywood megastar Chiranjeevi called him “multi -faced genius” and shared a long note on X (East Twitter), with his strong screen appearance and “zero”, his death lagged behind.
Actor Ravi Teja, who worked with Kota Srinivasa Rao in more than 10 films, also expressed his grief.
He said, “Growing up seeing him, praising him, and learning from every performance. Kota Babai was like a family for me, I cherish the lovely memories of working with him. Rest in Peace, Kota Srinivasa Rao Garu Shanti,” he wrote on X.

Kota Srinivasa Rao was born on 10 July 1942 in Kankipadu village, a suburb of Vijayawada city of Andhra Pradesh. Making his debut with ‘Pranam Kharedu’ in 1978, he acted in more than 750 films in various languages. He also received Padma Shri in 2015 for his contribution to Indian cinema, India’s fourth largest civilian honor.
