Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday remembered four legends of Indian cinema – Raj Kapoor, Mohammed Rafi, Akkineni Nageswara Rao and Tapan Sinha on their birth centenary year. mind matter Address of 2024.

Speaking in his monthly radio broadcast, the Prime Minister said: “In 2024, we are celebrating the birth centenaries of many film personalities who played an important role in bringing the country global recognition. The lives of these celebrities are a source of inspiration for our film industry.
Modi said, “Through his films, Raj Kapoor ji made the world aware of India’s soft power.”
He praised Mohammed Rafi’s magical voice, saying, “His incredible voice will touch the heart of every listener. Be it devotional songs, romantic songs or sad songs, he brought every emotion alive with his voice. The fact that today’s youth listen to his songs with the same passion is a testament to his greatness as an artist. This is the true meaning of timeless art.”

Modi also praised Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR) for taking Telugu cinema to “new heights”, saying, “His films beautifully reflect Indian traditions and values.”
Regarding Tapan Sinha, the Prime Minister commented: “Tapan Sinha ji’s films gave a new vision to the society. His films gave the message of social consciousness and national unity.”

Birth centenaries of Raj Kapoor, often called the showman of Hindi cinema, and Mohammed Rafi, one of the greatest playback singers of Indian cinema, known for his ability to convey a rainbow of emotions through his voice. Recently it was celebrated on 14 December. And 24 December respectively.
Akkineni Nageswara Rao, better known as ANR, was a legend in the Telugu film industry. In his career spanning seven decades, he acted in many historical films. His 100th birth anniversary was celebrated on 20 September.
One of the most prominent Bengali cinema directors of the 1970s and 1980s, Tapan Sinha stood alongside stalwarts such as Satyajit Ray, Ritwik Ghatak and Mrinal Sen. He will turn 100 on October 2.
