Mumbai: Television actress Pooja Banerjee, reacting to being falsely accused in a money laundering case, has expressed disappointment over the recent allegations.
In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Pooja clarified that she was wrongly convicted for the case, after her name, photograph and certificate were circulated by several media outlets.
Banerjee, who was in South Africa with her family when the allegations were made, shared her disappointment at the way the media handled the situation. He revealed that many media outlets did not cross-check information with him or his team before publishing false news. Despite reaching out to several journalists to clarify the truth, Pooja claimed that some ignored her, while others were reluctant to take down the story due to their egos.
In a note on his Instagram handle, he wrote, “Hello my dear well-wishers, wishing you all a very happy new year. I didn’t want to make this my first post of 2025, but sadly, the last few days have been very depressing and full of regrets. I was recently falsely convicted in a money laundering case, sadly this news was broadcast by almost all media pages and outlets along with my name, photograph and my credentials. I was not aware of this news as I was in South Africa with my family when false allegations were made without any comment from me or my team.
“My family members were extremely distressed by such blatant false allegations being spread all over the news that we have decided to take the legal route to clarify our position that no violation of law has been committed by me and my entire family. ” Friends and well wishers if this false news has hurt you then I am sorry but I will stand against lies and ensure that this does not happen to anyone and the media which still has not believed me will definitely double Cross-check such baseless reports.
