New Delhi: Pratik Smita Patil finally revealed the real reason that he did not invite Father Raj Babbar to his wedding. The Babbar family first made headlines when Pratic Babbar married Priya Banerjee on Valentine’s Day (14 February), 2025. Families and friends of the industry participated in the house of Pratic’s late mother Smita Patil in Mumbai at The Dream Wedding. The Alexander actor opened his family’s dynamics and made the air clear about why he did not choose to invite Raj Babar to his wedding.
Pratik Babbar opens about not inviting Father Raj Babar
Remembering his decision not to invite his father Raj Babbar and other family members not inviting his personal wedding ceremony – a stop at his late mother Smita Patil’s house – dismissed any personal cracks or estranges. In an interview with Zoom, Pretic said, “My father’s wife (Nadira) and my mother (Smita Patil) had some complications in the past, thus a lot of things have been said in the press and accessories, if you dig 38-40 years ago. I was open to do something for another ceremony with my father and her family.”
He added, “I thought that it was not right for him and his family that had happened between him and his family in that house. It was not right. It was not right. The right thing is what we did, and then if – then – Circumstans now – Circumstans are different, everything has gone in the south, and it is very complicated. But it is not even for me, I am still there.”
Pratik calls it ‘best decision’
Pratik took the best decision by him and his wife. He said, “It was not about rejecting anyone. It was about respecting my mother and her wishes … I am sorry that my father and his wife could not be there, could not be at home, my mother bought me to live life and live life as a mother. She wanted to live in that house with me as the same mother.
“This was my wife and I was the best decision. And it could have been a very, very subtle landscape, and everything could have been subtle. But people are impulsive, people make impulsive options and say things out of the impulse, and it was just imperishable. I think I think the bitter taste has been made,” he said.
Babbar family mobility
The dynamics of the Babbar family are now known and when Raj Babbar, Arya Babbar, and Juhi Babbar were not invited to Pratic -Priya Banerjee, they were exposed to a stir on social media.
For unaffected, Raj Babbar first married Nadira Babbar in 1975, and she shared two children with her: Juhi Babbar and Arya Babbar. He later tied a knot with Smita Patil in 1983 and welcomed his son, Pratic in 1986. However, Smita died in the same year in the same year. Raj Babbar and Nadira reconciled a few years later. Pratik felt that it was not appropriate to include his father and his family at his mother’s house.
Pratik later changed her name to Pratik Smita Patil. Talking toi, he said, “I am trying to be like my mother and not like my father.”
On the work front, Pretic was last seen in Alexander, which also included Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead roles.
